The Position

Within Roche Pharma Research & Early Development (pRED), the ADME chapter is responsible for determining the key mechanisms of drug distribution in terms of absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME). We thereby support the research and clinical development of new drugs and additionally work on the implementation of automation solutions to accelerate the LI and LO phases.


Job mission

As part of our team you will be working on the automation of an established assay using a new pipetting robot.

Your impact
  • You will learn how to develop an established assay on a newly acquired pipetting robot
  • You will qualify the results of the assay and compare them to our other lab automation solutions, and present the results to the broader R&D group and automation group at Roche
  • Working in a multidisciplinary project team consisting of specialists in the field of ADME and lab automation, you will systematically improve the efficiency and stability of our automation installation

Your profile

  • You are currently enrolled in a related Master’s or Bachelor's program in cellular and molecular biology or related relevant discipline. Alternatively, you finished your studies within the last 12 months.
  • You are organized and enjoy solving challenges systematically by using your analytical and technical skills
  • You have experience working with Python
  • You are highly technical and are excited by cutting edge technologies in the lab
  • Ideally, you enjoy solving repetitive problems using technical solutions (e.g. simple coding or automation)
  • Ideally, you have experience with an Opentrons OT-2 pipetting robot
  • You are motivated to learn new techniques.
  • You are passionate about collaborating in a cross-functional team in a multicultural environment
  • You have a good command of spoken and written English.


Your location

The internship (100%) will be located in the Roche Pharma Research Center in Basel.

This internship is not suitable for a Thesis.
